Modern Standard Arabic is taught at the elementary level as both a subject of study and as a vehicle for learning other disciplines such as Islamic and social studies. Stemming from Qatar Supreme Education Council standards Arabic language teaching at the elementary level aims at nurturing learners into becoming increasingly skilled and sophisticated speakers and listeners, writers and readers, presenters and viewers for a range of purposes and audiences and in a variety of text forms. Drawing from Qatar Supreme Education Council resources and other resources students are exposed to a wide variety of genres, both literary and non-literary, text- based, auditory, and visual.
